Autopilot is costing us more than we think
If your weeks are starting to feel like a blur of meetings, metrics, and mental exhaustion… you’re not alone.
Employee engagement dropped again globally in 2024, with only 21% of employees saying they feel engaged at work. Meanwhile, 41% of professionals under 35 report feeling stressed every single day.
Managers—those responsible for energising others—felt the steepest decline. Meanwhile, 41% of professionals under 35 report feeling stressed every single day.
That kind of ongoing stress doesn’t just drain individuals—it costs organisations significantly. Research shows that when businesses invest in the wellbeing of their people, productivity and performance rise. Energy isn’t a perk. It’s a strategy.

People feel your energy before they hear your words
Your energy introduces you before you say a single thing. In meetings. With clients. On Zoom. In your team huddles.
When you’re exhausted or disconnected, people sense it—even if you’re smiling. But when your energy is grounded and alive—when you’re aligned with what matters—people lean in. Trust builds. Opportunities open.
We become magnetic to the right people and possibilities when we raise our energy above the ordinary. We don’t have to force impact—we resonate with it.
This is where high performance begins—not with doing more, but with being more intentional.
The six pillars of sustainable high performance – with joy and purpose at the centre
- Physical: Movement, sleep and nutrition boost cognitive function and mood.
- Emotional: Regulates reactions and supports clarity, empathy and connection.
- Financial: Financial stress is one of the biggest mental distractions.
- Social: Trust and connection drive collaboration, innovation and loyalty.
- Joy & Purpose: Passion lifts energy. Purpose sustains it.
- Spiritual: Connecting to values gives us a deeper sense of direction and alignment.
If you’re not sure what your passion is – start here
Not everyone wakes up excited to change the world. That’s okay. Passion doesn’t always show up as a lightnin

g bolt—it often grows slowly from curiosity, service and showing up in the small moments.
Here’s how to start:
- Track your curiosity Notice what piques your interest—articles, topics, conversations. Curiosity is a clue.
- Watch your energy At the end of each day, ask: What lifted me? What drained me? Energy never lies.
- Experiment small Try something new for 15 minutes. Book the coffee. Say yes to a project. Take the class. Action leads to clarity.
- Focus on impact Passion often follows purpose. Look for where you can help, add value or lift someone else.
- Find joy in small things A warm client interaction, a problem solved, a team win—these are real sources of meaning. Pause to feel them.
- Ask someone who knows you Ask: When do you see me at my best? When do I come alive? Often, others see our spark before we do.

Three ways to reclaim your energy this week
- Block one hour just for you—no meetings, no guilt – whatever feels good in the moment.
- Be fully present in one conversation—phone down, heart in.
- Reflect with gratitude: What gave you joy this week? Do it again next week.
Final thought
High-performing workplaces are only sustainable when they’re filled with high-performing individuals who are thriving—professionally and personally.
We’re not machines. We’re human. And when we show up with our energy aligned—physically, emotionally, financially, spiritually, and socially—we don’t just perform better… we live better.
This isn’t about chasing work–life balance. It’s about whole-life alignment.
It’s not about slicing your time thinner to fit more in. It’s about creating a richer, more fulfilling life—baking a bigger, more meaningful pie.
Because you weren’t born just to survive the week. You were born to SHINE.
High-performance cultures are built when we focus on the human drivers of high-performing individuals—clarity, energy, meaning, and connection.
And when we get this right, everything becomes much easier.
The better it gets, the better it gets!
